Fixed rate loans are structured so that the interest rate and monthly payments remain the same for the life of the loan.  People choose a fixed rate because of the security of a fixed payment. This loan is popular with first time home buyers and many others.  These loans are usually available with terms of 15, 20, 25, 30 and sometimes 40 years.
